Natural Disaster Assistance

At Oceanside Mortgage, people matter, and we are here to help. We are truly sorry if you have been impacted by the recent natural disaster. We understand this is a difficult time and you may not have easy access to your documents and records. We’re committed to helping you understand your options and the resources available to you.

If you are eligible for assistance, you will be provided a three-month forbearance. During the three-month forbearance, we may suspend your monthly payments and will not assess late fees. Oceanside Mortgage is required to accurately report the status of your loan as of the end of the month. If your property or employment is located within a presidential declared disaster area that has been labeled by FEMA as individual assistance, Oceanside Mortgage may be allowed to suppress credit reporting during the time you are in an approved loss mitigation plan.

There are loss mitigation plans specific to natural disasters, where you may be eligible for a forbearance based on your property or employment being located within a presidential declared disaster area that has been labeled by FEMA as individual assistance. These forbearance plans are temporary, and your full outstanding payments will be due at the end of the forbearance. If you haven’t applied for been approved for a different loss mitigation option at the end of the forbearance period, credit reporting will begin again, and you will need to repay the full outstanding amount to be considered current.

1. File a claim with FEMA. FEMA addresses claims on a first come, first serve basis. The sooner you file a claim, the sooner you will receive information about your claim.

2. Call your homeowner’s insurance agent or company and your flood insurance agent to discuss your situation and whether you’ve been impacted by storm/wind damage and/or flooding.

3. If you have experienced flood damage and do not have flood insurance, you can contact FEMA at 1-800-621-3362 or go to DisasterAssistance.gov for help.
